“You put the FACE in Facebook and the FRIEND in Friendster: Psychology and Cyberspace” – Chei Billedo

Cyberspace is a human construction, a personal and social experience that creates and recreates itself. We prowl cyberspace bringing with us our avatars or profiles, “selves” that we construct. We “friend” and “unfriend” in cyberspace—establishing, developing, maintaining and ending relationships online. Who is the person that other people meet online? What is this face that we present for others to see? How do the meeting of these self-created selves and perceived online others influence the reinvention of various forms of relationships? Psychology plays a crucial role in describing and explaining the evolution of self and relationships in this modern realm.
